Al has been dealing with eczema since he was 5 years old. His mom had him on so many steroids as a child that he was told he could no longer use them. She went to over the counter remedies for the next 10 years with little to no success. She smothered him with Aveeno lotions, used Aveeno soaps etc. He was constantly putting lotion on his body as his eczema covered his body. His skin always looked, and felt, dry and flaky and even though he does not have dandruff, one would have thought otherwise due to the eczema being itched off his neck area.
When he was 15 his eczema was so bad that he was taken to get professional help again. He was prescribed Fluticasone Propionate Cream. .05% for the itchiness and Derma-Smoothe/FS (Floucinolone Acetonide .01% Topical Oil). He began a 3 month regimen of being sprayed down with water right before bedtime and then rubbing the oil on himself from head to toe before putting on winter PJ's (to better cover his arms and legs) and going to bed. His clothes had to be washed. together with his bedding, every morning due to the oil getting everywhere. The product was meant to "smother" the eczema and it did work but did not cure the problem. Shortly after he stopped this program his eczema return and we returned to the drawing board, praying for something that would help him. |
